We have a regular volunteer newsletter emailed out for opportunities, and we also work with you to tailor your skills and interests into supporting the foundations of the organization and the community we serve. Keep an eye on our Calendar of Events and or Facebook page for updated activities.
City Repair exists mostly in part to volunteer support, so any amount of time served nourishes us greatly.
Regular volunteer opportunities include:
- Garden and construction workparties
- Event logistics support
- Fundraising and material sourcing
- Community outreach
- Leading workshops
- Administrative Support
Interns have come to City Repair from across the nation and globe, including India, Turkey, and Canada. The areas of study have included Community Health, Social Activism and Organizing, Community Based Art & Architecture, and more topics that connect to our ethics and mission.
Please know that our current organizational needs are leaning toward administrative support and organizational capacity building with tasks like post-VBC documentation, non-profit management, fundraising and program development. We are open to interests and needs beyond our focus areas, but will have limited capacity to support such projects.

Besides just giving back to the community through your service, here's an option to gain benefit from volunteering through the PDX Time Bank:
PDX Time Bank is a community of members who share their services with one another. At its most basic level, time banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your community. That hour goes into the Time Bank as a Time Dollar. Then you have a Time dollar to spend on having someone do something for you. Create an exciting relationship with your community, neighbors and friends! In the world of time-stressed schedules, the PDX Time Bank is an answer to nurturing a little more of what you love to do in exchange for what you don't know how, want, or have time to do -- created through the power of sharing the community wealth of talents.
To join, go to www.pdxtimebank.com and submit an application by clicking "become a member". Besides trading services individual to individual, organizations like City Repair can give time dollars to folks volunteers who provide services.
