The City Repair Project | |
The Village Building Convergence is a localization event with eveningpresentations, delicious food & music, as well as hands-on learning workshops in more than twenty neighborhoods across the city!
Come be a part of this amazing, transformative event and gain knowledge, skills, and experience from ecological and community visionaries!
The village is powered by villagers! Along with Portland volunteers, VBC6 is sponsored by: Sunnyside Environmental School, The City Repair Project, Office of Sustainable Development, The ReBuilding Center, KBOO 90.7fm, Southeast Uplift, and the Portland Department of Transportation.
Daytime workshops are at sites in the neighborhoods, and evening events are at Disjecta, a Beautiful 25,000 sq. ft. space that is in the very center of Portland. The address is 230 E. Burnside, you can get to it off of 3rd Ave, or even enter by foot right directly off of the Burnside Bridge on the south sidewalk of the east side of the river.
May 19 - 28th, 2006. Workshops all day, evening events start at 7pm. Check out the evening event schedule Click Here

Our most wanted volunteer needs are:
Coordinate the many volunteers that will come together to pull off the events of the VBC. Manage stage techs, door sales people, and set-up/clean-up crews.
Do you know something about native plants and permaculture gardening? Lend your skills and expertise in designing and executing permaculture projects for the VBC.
Many of the 32 upcoming VBC sites need liasons to support communication between site organizers and City Repair. This involves developing an intimate relationship with a specific sight, staying updated with their process and needs, and reporting their progress at weekly Placemaking meetings.
